Zelensky has replaced the Chief of the General Staff and appointed a new one
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree relieving Lieutenant General Anatoliy Barhylevych of the duties of Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces. This information has been published on the official website of the president.
The document states: 'Relieve Barhylevych Anatoliy Vladyslavovych of the duties of Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.'
Zelensky appointed Major General Andriy Hnatov to replace him, who previously served as the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The General Staff has noted that Hnatov has been tasked with improving the quality of military management, particularly during the reorganization and implementation of a new structure. He will also be responsible for the timeliness of decision-making and implementation by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, as well as for incorporating combat experience into planning and military management.
Relieved Barhylevych will continue to serve as the General Inspector of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. He has been entrusted with overseeing reforms in the army, compliance with legislation, and the decisions made by the Ministry of Defense, considering his extensive management experience gained in the Armed Forces.
