The watermelon season has begun in Ukraine: what is wrong with the prices.


The watermelon harvesting season has started in Ukraine, and farmers from various regions of the country have already headed to the fields for this sweet berry. According to analysts from the EastFruit project, prices for watermelons vary from 20 to 28 hryvnias per kilogram. Although the supply volumes are not very large yet, some farms are already selling their harvests wholesale.
Experts noted that prices this season are 10% higher compared to the previous one. It is expected that mass sales of watermelons will begin a little later, closer to mid-July.
Farmers are warning about a possible sharp decline in prices in the coming weeks due to increased supply. However, fresh domestic watermelons can already be purchased on the market. And it is worth remembering that prices for other fruits, such as bananas, oranges, and lemons, may also change throughout the summer.
