In Estonia, two citizens of Moldova were convicted for the arson of the Slava Ukraina restaurant.


The Harju County Court in Estonia has announced a verdict in the case of two citizens of Moldova accused of setting fire to the Slava Ukraina restaurant in Tallinn in January of this year and other crimes. According to the investigation, their actions were part of a hybrid war that, according to the prosecution, Russian special services are waging against Estonia and its allies. This information was reported by ERR.
Junior Ivan Kikhayal (born in 1992) was charged with espionage and organizing sabotage attacks on behalf of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (GRU). The senior Kikhayal (editor's note: the defendants have the same name) (born in 1987) was only charged with damaging someone else's property. According to the investigation, the junior received instructions to carry out arsons, which were part of the hybrid war led by Russia.
GRU systematically prepared and organized provocations and sabotage on the territory of the Baltic states to destabilize the situation and instill fear in society, harm objects of symbolic significance, and undermine trust in the state.
According to the investigation, a Ukrainian restaurant in Tallinn became a target of criminal activity, in which citizens of Moldova were involved, cooperating with Russian special services in the framework of the hybrid war against the Baltic states. The court found both defendants guilty of arson of the restaurant and other crimes aimed at destabilizing the situation in the region.
