Condition for receiving 4 billion euros from the EU: Rada passed the law on plea agreement.

Ukraine passed the law on plea agreement in corruption cases
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted in the second reading for the bill on entering into a plea agreement in corruption cases. The entire procedure is a necessary condition for Ukraine to receive 4 billion euros from the European Union.
According to member of parliament Yaroslav Zheleznyak, 263 deputies voted in favor of the law adoption.
According to the bill, for cooperation with the investigation, by revealing other participants and compensating the damage caused, the court may impose a lesser prison sentence than prescribed by the Criminal Code.
“The adoption of this bill is an important step for Ukraine on the path to receiving 4 billion euros from the European Union,” said Zheleznyak.
It is also proposed that the court will have the right to impose significant fines - over 4 million hryvnias for serious crimes and up to 102 million hryvnias for particularly serious crimes. In addition, the court will have the right to confiscate the property of the criminal if their guilt is proven.
This law is also aimed at combating organized crime. However, it can only be applied to the organizer of a criminal scheme if such a person exposes another organizer.
It is important to note that this step is one of the key ones in the process of Ukraine receiving financial support from the European Union in the amount of 4 billion euros.
