Reuters reported on the condition under which Putin is ready to freeze the war in Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, stated that he is ready for a deal to end the war but only if his demands are met. He is willing to discuss a ceasefire in Ukraine with the new US president Donald Trump, but he insists on Ukraine abandoning its plans to join NATO. According to five Russian officials, Putin may agree to a freezing of the conflict but is not ready for serious territorial concessions. He is also open to discussing the exit from small parts of Ukrainian territory currently controlled by Russia. However, US President Joe Biden's decision to allow Ukraine to conduct missile tests that reach deep into Russia may complicate the ceasefire process and strengthen Moscow's demands. If an agreement on a ceasefire is not reached, Russia will continue to fight. Russian officials claim that a ceasefire will not lead to Russia's victory in this conflict. The Kremlin also does not agree to Ukraine's joining NATO and demands limitations on the number of Ukrainian Armed Forces. At the same Time, Russia is ready to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine. Previously, a possible ceasefire had been discussed, but reaching a long-term agreement will be a challenging task.
