NZZ assessed how Trump's victory will affect Europe, Ukraine, and Putin.

The German publication Neue Zürcher Zeitung assessed the likelihood of Russian President Vladimir Putin's victory. According to journalists, Ukrainian servicemen on the front line in Donbas are concerned about future support from Western allies. They believe that the result of the American elections will not affect the current situation and may, on the contrary, reduce Western aid. One officer stated that the West no longer helps Ukraine due to its own problems, and another fears the return of Donald Trump to power, considering him a friend of Putin.
According to the publication, the situation in Donbas has worsened in recent weeks, the Russian army continues to advance, and the Ukrainian army heavily relies on American military aid. Analysts predict a critical period for Ukraine, which will occur between Trump's possible victory in the elections and his official assumption of the presidency. In their estimates, this transition period could significantly influence the dynamics of the conflict.
The publication notes that for Ukraine, Trump's victory would be a major blow, and defeat would symbolize the collapse of hopes for support from the West. Russia will gain a significant advantage, continuing to attack and occupy new territories until Trump assumes office.
The article also notes that Trump's victory could change the balance of power in Europe, increasing the influence of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and other European politicians who are close to Trump. However, according to analysts, this could also strengthen Europe's unity and efforts in defense and provide greater support for Ukraine.
