Solar energy on rails: a unique project has started in Switzerland.

The world's first mobile solar power plant on railway tracks
Swiss startup Sun-Ways has launched a mobile solar power plant with a capacity of 18 kW on railway tracks. This idea emerged for Joseph Scuderi in 2020 while he was waiting for a train at the Renens station. His interest in green energy and desire to return to his previous career prompted him to implement this project.
Sun-Ways has already installed the first 100 meters of solar panels on railway tracks in Bütti. The company has developed a mobile removable system for quick installation and dismantling of solar panels. Each of the 48 panels is placed between the rails on the railway sleepers.
Experiments and analyses have confirmed the success of such projects and their significant commercial potential. It has also been established that railway infrastructure can effectively operate with solar panels placed directly on the tracks.
