Jobs for Pensioners - When It Is Permitted to Refuse Employees.

The State Labor Service reminded that Ukrainian legislation does not allow discrimination based on age when hiring. However, there are certain restrictions that should be adhered to. For example, elderly citizens cannot be denied employment in order to reach retirement age.
According to the law 'On the Basic Principles of Social Protection of Labor Veterans and Elderly Citizens in Ukraine', such individuals have the right to an adequate standard of living, satisfaction of their essential needs, various forms of assistance, and the realization of their right to work, taking into account their professional training and health status. The message also noted that denying employment based on age is considered discrimination and entails certain penalties.
It is worth remembering that hiring should be based solely on the business qualities of the employees, not on their age, except for certain labor spheres. If the refusal is justified by professional qualities, it can be challenged in court, and those who violate the legislation on preventing discrimination face liability.
This news highlights important aspects regarding the employment of elderly citizens in Ukraine, indicating their rights and discrimination that may be based on entirely justified reasons. Such information can be useful for anyone looking for a job or wanting to familiarize themselves with the labor legislation of the country.
