EU and US expose Russian hackers who infected thousands of computers worldwide.

International operation: cybercriminal network from Russia uncovered and neutralized
Law enforcement agencies from several countries jointly carried out a major operation to detect and dismantle a cybercriminal network operating from Russia that infected computers around the globe. The criminals used malware such as Qakbot, DanaBot, Conti, and others. The operation was codenamed Endgame and has been underway since 2022, led by Germany.
According to the investigation, hackers from Russia and associated entities infected over 300 thousand computers in various countries. They used stolen data for extortion, cyber espionage, and stored part of the information on servers in Russia.
Investigators managed to identify 37 individuals, of whom 20 are wanted internationally. The US has also filed cases against 16 hackers, including the organizers of the Qakbot and Danabot networks. Among the suspects are citizens from Moscow, Novosibirsk, and even Ukraine.
It was reported that the administration of former US President Donald Trump significantly cut cybersecurity assistance to Ukraine after the inauguration of the president, leading to a weakening of the country's defenses against Russian cyberattacks.
