Nuclear energy will save Ukraine in the 'most difficult winter' in the country's history - media.

According to Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko, nuclear energy is the only salvation for Ukraine ahead of the upcoming difficult winter. Thanks to nuclear energy, the Ukrainian energy system can withstand the pressure. Ukraine is facilitating the construction of two nuclear units at the Khmelnytskyi NPP, receiving support from Western partners. Halushchenko noted that it is important to start construction as soon as possible, especially in a situation where the facility is already 80% ready. Currently, Ukraine's priority is the restoration of destroyed generation facilities before the onset of cold weather. The government and parliament of Ukraine have supported a bill to complete the construction of nuclear units at the Khmelnytskyi plant. This intention of Ukraine has been supported by the United States through special representative Penny Pritzker.
